Ronald McDonald House

Serving families since 1982, the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana provides a safe haven and home-away-from-home for parents and siblings of seriously ill or injured children.  Since we opened our doors, more than 35,000 families from every Indiana county, as well as many other states and countries, have stayed at the House. The Ronald McDonald House of Indiana has two locations. Our original location, on the campus of IUPUI, has 46 sleeping rooms plus six apartments designed especially for the needs of transplant patients and their families.  Our “House at Riley,” inside Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, has six sleeping rooms for families with children in the most critical situations and also houses a day retreat, open to any family with an inpatient at Riley.  Here families can nap, grab a shower or a bite to eat or just watch TV for a few moments—whatever they need to get a break from the stressful hospital environment.

At both locations, families will find caring volunteers and staff.  In addition, each family is surrounded by other families sharing the same anxiety and concerns.  The support of people who truly understand helps to ease this very difficult time.
